Welcome to my site.
I’m a researcher, writer and adviser who focuses on sustainable landscapes and the people who support them.
I’ve been working in this for 25+ years in various places around the world, but in particular Australia and the Asian region. There’s a collection of experiences which I bring to my current work, but also friendships made and an on-going recognition of the enormous potential and creativity of those who I have worked with at various scales. They are important reminders that, given opportunities, we are all able to engage with issues of sustainability and sustainable landscapes – we all have contributions to make.
My website reflects this. The ‘My Focus’ section is the access to information about my work in both Sustainable Landscapes and Slow Travel. The ‘Sustaining landscapes’ section sets out some information about my view of landscapes and why they are an important focus, whilst the ‘Slow Travel’ section takes you to my slow travel website. The ‘Collaboration’ section focuses on how we can collaborate on all of this through my professional practice. Hopefully you’ll also find some of the blog posts interesting. In case all that isn’t enough, you can find out more about both the site and me at the ‘About’ section and the ‘Brian’ section.
We are all trying to achieve the same thing – a sustainable future for landscapes and the people who live in them, and a recognition of our part in that – as travellers, as conservationists or as people who are interested and committed.
This site, and its community, is an important part of my ongoing contribution to supporting sustainable landscapes, whether that be through my professional advising or through my writing.
Join in the community, join in the conversations, contact me to start some conversations and, in any case, come back often.
Cheers,
Brian
